Grandma's Banana Bread
Posted by Cathryn Becker on
So I am that person... I buy banana's with every intention of eating "healthy"... Needless to say they usually just occupy the fruit bowl until they are brown and only bread worthy, and that's not a bad thing, once you try this bread you will agree! There is no formal written recipe it's one of those things that I have always known, I will do my best!
Grandma's Banana Bread
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3-4 very ripe banana's
- 2 eggs
- 2-3 tbs sour cream or yogurt
- cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and a little salt
- nuts if desired
Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices and salt. Mix together smashed banana's, eggs and sour cream, whip them a bit until they are fluffy. Combine all ingredients together bake in a greased bread pan at 350 until center is just done, cool on wire rack. Makes two loaves.
This bread makes excellent french toast!!
Let me know what you think! Enjoy!
